Locations: HQ is in Sandy, Utah, with 160 locations in 16 states — including the East Coast in the next year.

Distinction: Swig launched the original “dirty soda” craze and prioritizes customer service and speed.

Distinction: Thirst’s food matches its drink quality: It offers popcorn, beignets and fresh-baked soft pretzel items in a variety of forms, like bites, dogs, and cheesy.

Most popular Thirst order: The Dr. McCreamy: Dr. Pepper with raspberry purée and coconut cream.

What the founder, Ethan Cisneros, gets: “The Fresh Prince [lemonade base with real fruit], with a cinnamon sugar pretzel cup and an icing dipping cup.”

Bevvy’s Soda Shop

Locations: The main store is in Payson, Utah, along with a mobile drink trailer. Satellite sites at the Utah State Fairpark and Conquer Padel in Lehi are also popular.

Distinction: Independent, female-owned and family-run with a drive-thru and large dine-in area — you’re encouraged to stay a while.

Most popular Bevvy’s Soda Shop order: The Girlfriend, a Dr. Pepper with raspberry purée and coconut cream.

What the founder, Brooke Barker, gets: “The UrMom — a Diet Pepsi with fresh lime, maraschino cherries and cream. My kids say their mom loves Diet Pepsi so much she opened her own Diet Pepsi store.”

Location: Salem, Utah, at 195 W. SR 198 in a renovated version of Salem’s original gas station.

Distinction: Family-owned with seating indoors and outdoors. Treats are locally sourced: ice cream from Rockwell and cinnamon and raspberry rolls from Shirley’s Bakery.

Most popular Soda Retreat order: The Fastlane — Dr. Pepper with raspberry puree and coconut creamer — with a milk chocolate chip cookie.

What the founder, Amie Cook, gets: “32 oz. Diet Coke with fresh lime and a single scoop of Honeycomb ice cream from Rockwell.”

Pop N Dot

Location: HQ and only location is Orem, Utah, within Will’s Canyon Stop at 1565 E. 800 N.

Distinction: Owned by siblings, Pop N Dot sells the original Dutchman’s Market cookies and was one of the first soda shops to offer protein smoothies. It’s also open every day (even Sunday).

Most popular Pop N Dot order: The Ultra Bae —white Monster, strawberry puree, passion fruit and coconut cream — and the Rocket Science — Dr. Pepper, coconut, vanilla, raspberry puree and cream — are equally popular.

What the founders, Kassidy Wattleworth and Will Faulkner, get: Wattleworth gets an Ultra Bae and an oatmeal cookie, while Faulkner prefers The Missy H2O, which is water with raspberry purée, sugar-free coconut and fresh lime.

Sizzurp Soda Lab

Location: Downtown Salt Lake City

Distinction: An intentionally tight, curated menu with tongue-in-cheek names.

Most popular Sizzurp Soda Lab order: Julia Reagan: Dr. Pepper, raspberry puree, pomegranate, coconut and cream.

What the founder, Fletch Howell, gets: “A new one called the Kolob Kolada: Red Bull, pineapple puree and coconut cream.”

FiiZ Drinks

Locations: HQ in Bountiful, Utah, with a national trajectory — and soon to be international in Canada.

Distinction: Endless combinations make every visit new (or create a go-to favorite).

Most popular FiiZ Drinks order: FiiZ Puffs and a Berry Bad Dr., Chandelier Bling — Mountain Dew, coconut, pineapple and strawberry or Sharks in the Water — Sprite, blue rasberry and gummy sharks.

Quench It!

Locations: HQ in Heber City, Utah, with nine stores across the state.

Distinction: Family-owned and operated, both the food and drink menus are diverse. They also partner locally with Süss Cookie Co. in Midway.

Most popular Quench It! order: Dr. Creamberry: Dr. Pepper, raspberry and cream.

What the founder, Erika Stover, gets: “The CEO. It’s a mix of Fresca, grapefruit, fresh limes and raspberries.”

The Soda Wagon

Location: A traveling soda store with main presence in Juab County.

Distinction: Mobile soda and coffee store that can serve walk-ups as easily as catering events.

Location: HQ and only location is in Pleasant Grove, Utah.

Distinction: Two drive-through lanes — the Fly-Thru lane is for orders on the app and the other is for in-person orders.
