What do you consider to be one of your most significant achievements and why?

Establishing and growing the Goldman Sachs office in Utah is the most significant — especially from an economic development perspective. The office set the standard for Goldman’s offshore and nearshore footprint strategy, and it has been a major force in revitalizing downtown and growing the financial services base in Utah.

What does success look like to you?

Contributing and making a difference while maintaining my integrity and being true to myself. I feel blessed to have been recognized and rewarded fairly over the years for my contributions. I don’t judge myself or others based on titles, income or wealth. In my work at WTC Utah, as a non-profit, I am consistently impressed by the importance of the shared sense of mission to help grow the economy that many leaders in economic development and the government share.

What leadership philosophy guides your strategic vision and decision-making?

Being iterative, patient and valuing execution. Having a big vision and story that does with that is a start, but reaching that requires being flexible and adjusting it over and over as you engage with stakeholders. I grew up in operations roles. I really appreciate leaders and leadership and its many aspects, but a vision or idea without good execution is not worth much.
