What principle or habit has most influenced your professional success?
Throughout my career, I have tried to be authentic and genuine. In politics, you tend to have some difficult conversations, and building authentic relationships with people makes those difficult conversations a little less difficult. When you have disagreements, and you have a friendship, both sides come at the conversation from a position of trust and thinking the best of each other, which leads to much better outcomes — even if you don’t end up agreeing in the end.
What is the most rewarding thing about your job industry?
I have loved meeting so many incredible Utahns from all 29 counties and representing this great state. Utah is so unique and her people are so good, that it has made me better by rubbing shoulders with folks who quietly work hard and sacrifice to make their communities a better place. People show up for their neighbors during good times, but most importantly, during the difficult times, without expecting anything in return.
