PARK CITY, Utah — Alpine Distilling has been recognized as the first-ever recipient of the Gold Medal distinction through the Park City Green Business Program, honoring the company’s measurable commitment to sustainability, environmental responsibility, and community impact.
Founded in Park City, Alpine Distilling has integrated sustainability into all aspects of its operations, from energy-efficient production systems and water conservation efforts to waste-reduction initiatives and responsible hospitality operations. The recognition honors years of deliberate investment in systems engineered to reduce environmental impact while preserving the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship.
The distillery’s production facility was intentionally designed around efficient low-pressure steam systems, heat recovery technology, LED lighting, and natural barrel-aging methods that reduce energy consumption and eliminate the need for climate-controlled warehouse storage.
“At Alpine, sustainability has never been a marketing exercise,” said Sara Sergent, CEO and Master Botanical Distiller of Alpine Distilling. “It’s about stewardship, accountability, and operating in a way that respects the mountains, water, and community that make Park City so extraordinary. Every operational decision we make considers the long-term impact on the people and place around us.”
Beyond production, Alpine Distilling has incorporated sustainability practices throughout the Park City Social Aid & Pleasure Club, including comprehensive recycling programs, food-waste management initiatives, material reuse efforts, and operational systems that allow the lounge to regularly operate with less than one bag of trash per shift.
The company’s environmental leadership has been recognized with multiple honors, including Utah Business Green Business of the Year in 2021 and 2024, Recycle Utah Business of the Year in 2022, and now the first-ever Gold Medal distinction awarded by the Park City Green Business Program in 2026.
Sergent recently shared Alpine Distilling’s sustainability initiatives and operational transparency during her presentation at Ginposium 2026 in London on June 12, joining global spirits leaders to discuss sustainability, the future of gin, production innovation, and responsible industry practices.
“Our goal is continuous improvement—to keep measuring, innovating, and demonstrating that exceptional spirits and responsible environmental practices can coexist,” Sergent said.
The recognition underscores Alpine Distilling’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and innovation while reinforcing its position as a leader in sustainable craft distilling. The company continues to advance sustainability initiatives across its distillery operations, hospitality programs, and botanical education efforts, including the recently launched Forager app. Through these efforts, Alpine Distilling remains committed to demonstrating how environmental stewardship and premium craft spirits can thrive together.
