PROVO, Utah — For as long as most Utahns can remember, the entrance to Provo Canyon has been marked by something that doesn’t belong there: an active mining operation, grinding away at the base of Mount Timpanogos, one of the most iconic peaks in the American West.

That could be about to change. Vesper Amphitheater announced plans to acquire the site, cease all mining activity, and undertake a comprehensive restoration project by returning native habitat, repairing damaged terrain, and establishing a landmark outdoor venue for one of Utah’s most cherished natural corridors.

“It is a rare opportunity for land at the mouth of a canyon to become available like this”, said Spencer Shumway, Founder, Vesper Amphitheater. “The greatest luxury we can create is access to nature, restoring this land into a gateway for hiking, biking, music, and meaningful experiences. As stewards of this land, we are excited to help preserve the canyon.”

The restoration program doesn’t just repair the hillside; it secures its future. In partnership with Provo City, Vesper plans to establish a conservation easement that will preserve the landscape permanently for the community.

The heart of Vesper is its natural setting. The entertainment venue is being designed to work together in support of that setting, creating a place where music, family, and the canyon experience are deeply connected. Vesper intends to establish a new benchmark for adaptable entertainment architecture in the Mountain West while honoring the landscape that makes the site so unique. With entertainment as one of its major focal points, Vesper Amphitheater is excited to bring the very best in live music and family entertainment, creating a one-of-a-kind performance venue, restoring natural beauty, and creating outdoor adventure for the whole family.
