“I feel incredibly honored and just truly amazed by the recognition and generosity from The Academy of American Poets and The Mellon Foundation. It is surreal to be in a lineup with such notable and accomplished poets and organizers from across the country, said Angelika Brewer, Ogden’s Poet Laureate.

She went on to say, “I have always been an advocate and supporter of the arts and I am extremely grateful to be able to bring additional resources to our community here in Ogden and represent our city on a national level in this way.

I plan to expand on the Ogden Ar(t)chives Mailbox project by creating a website for the archives, so the public can view submissions at any time. I have partnered up with Ogden Contemporary Arts and Glass Spider Publishing to create a book about OCA’s Artist Factory program, which I hope generates some circular funding for OCA to continue the incredible work they do for the community and arts advocacy, as well as give youth poets and artists a chance to be formally published. I’ll also be investing in supplies to expand on existing and create new poetry events and projects in our community. I look forward to the upcoming year and my new term as Ogden’s Poet Laureate. I thank the city of Ogden for their trust in me to create additional space for the incredible Literary Artists that live here and the accomplishments of our arts community.”

Angelika has been a featured speaker at the Utah Conference for Teachers of English, Kiwanis Club, Ogden Pride Festival, PBS Utah, Standard-Examiner online, Utah Arts Festival, Ogden Arts Festival, Literary Deathmatch, Concrete Rose, “Write About Now" cypher and many other events.
