Powder Mountain announced the appointment of Mark Kohler as Chief Hospitality Officer, a newly created executive position that will oversee all aspects of the guest and member experience with emphasis on Powder Haven, the mountain resort’s private membership and real estate community. Kohler brings more than 20 years of luxury hospitality experience spanning private clubs, destination hotels, and resort communities across the United States and Caribbean.
“Mark is uniquely suited to leading our guest and member experience initiatives,” said Brandi Hammon, Powder Mountain President. “He has spent his career building teams and creating exceptional experiences at some of the most celebrated private clubs and resorts in the world. That’s the standard we’ve set at Powder Haven, and exactly the leadership we want stewarding it.”
Kohler joined Discovery Land Company as the founding General Manager of Barbuda Ocean Club before his most recent role as General Manager of Gozzer Ranch Golf & Lake Club in Lake Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Earlier in his career, he also operated seasonal club programming at the Yellowstone Club in Big Sky, Montana.
Kohler’s career also includes leadership roles at distinguished destinations such as St. Regis Deer Valley in Park City, Utah, the historic Nantucket Yacht Club, and the century-old Sankaty Head Golf Club on Nantucket Island.
As Chief Hospitality Officer, Kohler will oversee the full member and guest experience at Powder, including programming, dining, amenities, and service operations. Kohler’s appointment comes as Powder Haven prepares to announce its next phase of development, including residential and private lift expansion, as well as the 2028 opening of Arclodge, the 73,000 square foot clubhouse and lodge which will serve as the community’s central gathering space.
“What draws me to Powder Haven is the ambition of the vision and opportunity to help shape it,” said Kohler. “Creating a place where families can truly unplug and reconnect in one of the most remarkable mountain environments in the world is exactly the kind of challenge I’ve built my career around.”
