About Burke
Burke Olsen is publisher of the Deseret News — Utah’s oldest news organization and longest-running company — and Utah Business — the Beehive State’s premier business news and events platform.
Before Olsen turned to the dark allure of journalism, his career focused on the intersection of technology, content and marketing. His prior work spans organizations in the for-profit and nonprofit sectors, including the Pew Research Center, the 2002 Winter Olympics, Southern Virginia University and two public relations firms. He received a bachelor’s degree in communications from Brigham Young University and did graduate work at Johns Hopkins University.
Olsen serves on the board of directors for the Pew Research Center, one of the most respected nonpartisan research organizations in the world; the board of directors for the News/Media Alliance, the largest trade association for newspaper and magazine publishers; and the advisory board for Utah Community Builders, the nonprofit community impact foundation of the Salt Lake Chamber.
