What unique strengths do you bring to your professional and other roles?
My greatest strength is a deep, genuine care for the people I work with. I’m a firm believer that the most successful teams aren’t just a collection of talent, but a group of people who have each other’s backs. I work hard to build rapport where we understand one another’s strengths and weaknesses. To me, the recipe for success is simple but rare: a shared definition of what winning looks like, genuine cooperation and highly motivated individuals. I lead by assuming positive intent and staying curious; I’m often the one asking the questions everyone else assumes have already been answered, which often uncovers gaps that need to be addressed.
What’s your next big goal or project in your professional journey?
My next goal is to bridge the gap between high-performance results and personal well-being. The tech industry often demands total personal sacrifice, but I want to prove that you can lead teams to massive wins while remaining emotionally present for your family. I am on a mission to bring more leaders into the middle — a space where we can be high-impact professionals without having to sacrifice family dinner. My goal is to help my organization and my peers, as the Full Focus team puts it, “Win at work and succeed at life.”
What key advice would you offer to other aspiring leaders?
Leadership is not about you. Leaders are only needed to make everyone else better. Sometimes you will need to roll up your sleeves and do the work yourself; other times you will need lean on the expertise of someone who reports to you. Sometimes it will be prudent to make a decision to move things forward; other times it will be prudent to allow someone else to lead the cause.
Your job as a leader is to keep everyone aligned and focused: reinforce the goals, give feedback about what you see, and be curious about what is in the way of success — even if sometimes it’s you.
