Was there a pivotal moment in your life that brought you to where you are today?

A pivotal moment that brought me to where I am today was my decision to double major in psychology and sociology during my undergraduate studies. That choice deepened my understanding of human behavior and social systems — insights that later guided my passion for equity and inclusion. Through a professor’s recommendation, I earned an internship with the National Diversity Council where I became a certified diversity professional and gained the tools to help organizations build more inclusive cultures. Accepting a position in higher education in rural Utah was another defining step. Though challenging, it opened doors to connect with broader networks across Salt Lake City and ultimately led to the privilege of working for an elected official. Along the way, there were moments of doubt and adversity, but each experience strengthened my resilience and reaffirmed my commitment to lead with purpose, empathy and perseverance.

What advice do you have for other young professionals?

My advice to other young professionals is to embrace every opportunity as a chance to learn, even when it feels uncertain or uncomfortable. Growth often happens in the spaces that challenge us most. Be intentional about building relationships — mentorship and community can open doors that hard work alone cannot. Stay grounded in your values and lead with integrity, even when recognition is slow to come. I’ve learned that success isn’t always linear; there will be detours, setbacks, and moments of doubt. Use those experiences as fuel, not failure. Seek purpose over perfection, and let resilience be your constant companion. Most importantly, remember that your voice and perspective matter — especially in rooms where they’ve historically been underrepresented. Lead boldly, stay curious, and never underestimate the impact of showing up authentically and with compassion.
