Was there a pivotal moment in your life that brought you to where you are today?
That moment for me was volunteering to canvass for a political campaign I was extremely passionate about when I was 19. The experience taught me something very important about the intersection of politics and community — even when we disagree, we have far more in common than not. Most people just want the opportunity to succeed, to have a prosperous life for their families, and to be heard and seen. Above all else, this experience taught me to listen more intently, not just to speak, but to understand with compassion. I attribute that lesson to much of my professional success since, and as a core tenet, that has helped me forge even stronger personal relationships. This not only prepared me for the work I would do years later but also inspired ideas on how to implement meaningful change.
What do you hope to be doing in 10 years?
10 years from today, I hope that I am fortunate enough to still find myself in a position where I can continue representing my community, advocating for smart policy and speaking up for those who can’t. I’m hopeful that I can also lay some of the groundwork that inspires the next generation of young leaders to take the future into their own hands so that we can build a better Utah together.
