Scott S. Parker

Founding President & CEO | Intermountain Health

Scott Parker was the founding president and CEO of Intermountain Health for 23 years. This year, while Intermountain Health celebrated its 50th anniversary, Scott Parker turned 90. After The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints divested its 15 hospitals in 1975, Scott led Intermountain to become one of the top integrated healthcare delivery systems. Under his leadership, Intermountain launched IHC Health Plans (now Select Health) in 1983 and the Intermountain Medical Group in 1994. In 1988, it was a pioneer in applying continuous quality improvement to medical procedures. Now, Intermountain includes 34 hospitals, 400+ clinics and 68,000 employees. Select Health has 1.1 million members. Scott was inducted into the Health Care Hall of Fame in 2005 and served on the University of Utah David Eccles School of Business faculty from 2008 to 2020.
