At just 27, Candice Backus Pierucci made history as the youngest woman elected to the Utah House of Representatives in 2019. Her rapid rise has established her as an influential legislator now serving as majority caucus manager under Speaker Mike Schultz while chairing the House Education Committee.
“I’m particularly proud of passing historic school choice legislation coupled with the largest teacher pay increase in Utah’s history,” she says. In 2024, she was selected for the prestigious Toll Fellowship by The Council of State Governments.
As a young mother, Candice breaks barriers for women in politics — successfully advocating for a baby changing table in legislative bathrooms and launching the Republican Women Lead PAC, which has raised over $100,000 supporting over 40 women candidates.
“I want young women, girls and moms across the state to see my service and think, ‘if she can do it, I can do it,’” she explains.
