LEHI, Utah – On June 4, 2025, Utah’s HR and business strategy communities will gather at The Rooftop in Lehi for a half-day experience designed to do one thing: disrupt.

Back for its eighth edition, DisruptHR Salt Lake City promises to be more than a conference—it’s a fast-paced, idea-fueled movement challenging traditional thinking in human resources, people leadership, and organizational performance. From 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., attendees will hear bold, 5-minute talks from executives, HR innovators, and business leaders who dare to reimagine how we work.

“DisruptHR is for the curious, the bold, and the frustrated,” says event founder David Alsop, Chief Human Resources Officer at Ultradent and creator of the Utah chapter. “We wanted to create a spark—an adrenaline shot to the HR system each year. It’s shorter, cheaper, and yet somehow delivers more than many two-day conferences ever do. People leave with brain chemicals firing, and their own innovative ideas begin to take shape.”

Where Brains Fire and Barriers Fall

Modeled after the global DisruptHR format but infused with Utah flair, the Salt Lake City event gathers HR professionals, C-suite leaders, founders, and team builders in a setting that is energetic, interactive, and inspiring. With talks limited to 5 minutes and 20 slides that auto-advance every 15 seconds, each speaker is challenged to compress their biggest idea into an unforgettable mic-drop moment.

Past attendees say they leave feeling energized, not exhausted—ready to rethink hiring, performance, culture, benefits, DEI, and everything in between.

This year’s theme: “Flip the Script on Company Performance”. The focus? Unlocking human potential in ways that actually move the business needle.

“Whether you’re an HR leader or a CEO, you’ll walk away thinking differently about what performance really means,” says event co-lead Hannah Sterling. “We’ve always believed that when you ignite the right kind of people strategy, business results follow.”

From Boomerang to Catalyst

Alsop, who returned to Utah after years working across the U.S., launched DisruptHR Salt Lake City with a vision: give HR a jolt of relevance, creativity, and confidence. He wanted to help local professionals push beyond compliance and traditional tactics to become architects of business success.

“Utah has incredible HR talent,” he explains, “but we needed a place to challenge groupthink and inspire each other to lead differently. DisruptHR became that place.”

Over the years, the event has featured speakers on everything from neurodiversity and emotional compensation to AI ethics and leadership blind spots. Its ripple effect is evident across the Wasatch Front—HR departments are moving faster, executives are embracing more progressive strategies, and employees are benefiting from more human-centric approaches.

A Must-Attend for Utah’s People Leaders

Co-hosted by David Alsop of Ultradent Products Inc. and Hannah Sterling of Gallagher, and backed by sponsors committed to progressive workplace evolution, the 2025 event is expected to sell out quickly. Early registrants include HR professionals from tech startups, healthcare systems, higher education institutions, and global manufacturers—proof that great people strategy transcends industry boundaries and remains essential to business success.

DisruptHR Salt Lake City is also a favorite for those new to HR or leading people strategy from non-traditional backgrounds.

“If you want to get smarter, sharper, and braver in how you lead people, this is where you go,” says a past attendee.
