Utah is home to a myriad of successful companies, many specializing in innovation and technology. Purple Innovation, a leader in comfort technology that includes its award-winning mattresses, is firmly rooted here in the Silicon Slopes and is expanding its footprint across the United States.

As one of Utah’s fastest-growing companies, Purple recently celebrated the opening of its newest advanced manufacturing facility in McDonough, Georgia, just south of Atlanta. Local officials joined Purple executives for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the occasion. This state-of-the-art facility includes expanded capacity of its patented technology and better service for customers on the east coast. 

Georgia has become Purple’s second home since the selection of the state to build Purple’s largest manufacturing facility. While the ribbon-cutting marked the official grand opening, it also celebrated the success achieved at the facility thus far. Purple has added more than 400 jobs to the local economy and has been striving to run at full capacity to deliver comfort to its customers. 

Purple recently announced its increased expansion in Georgia which includes leasing an additional 300,000 square feet in the existing facility, adding production capacity and an expanded customer service facility totaling more than 800,000 square feet once completed. Purple intends to hire more than 400 additional Georgians to fully staff it.

As it has in Utah, Purple announced its commitment to give back to the local Georgia community as part of its mission of giving comfort to every body. Purple donated comfort items such as pillows, bedding, and Purple Squishies to Haven House, a local nonprofit on a mission to provide a safe home for survivors of domestic abuse. Katie Tucker, Executive Director of Haven House, was present to accept the donation, alongside representatives from the Precious Dreams Foundation, Purple’s official non-profit partner, that provides comfort bags for the children and youth at the shelter. In addition, Purple donated more than 100 emergency beds to Central Night Shelter in downtown Atlanta in coordination with Relief Bed International. These beds were specifically made by Purple to provide relief to those experiencing homelessness due to the Covid pandemic.

The new facility is championing Purple’s value to ‘Invent a Better Way,’ where they honor the legacy of innovation by manufacturing their patented technology on their patented machines. This dynamic duo creates the secret purple sauce Purple calls the GelFlex Grid found only in Purple products, including their mattresses, seat cushions, and pillows.

Purple also brings comfort to its own backyard

While Purple’s comfort solutions expand across the country, Purple is committed to growing its first home here in Utah, including continued involvement in the communities where employees live and work. Purple sponsors a Student of the Week and an Athlete of the Week for each junior high and high school in the Tooele School District for the 2021-2022 school year, where Purple’s manufacturing facility resides. Purple also gave each new teacher in the district a seat cushion and awarded the best teachers, administrators, and office staff a Purple mattress. 

Purple is further investing in Tooele County through a growing partnership with Preventative Services in an effort to provide education and workshop opportunities free to the public in stress management and emotional distress support. In connection with supporting the local economy, Purple has brought free services from local businesses for employees at their Grantsville facility to help bolster the local economy. Finally, Purple is investing in future employees through its donations to the Tooele Tech Scholarship Foundation.  Efforts like these ladder up to Purple’s core values of ‘Employees First’ and ‘Improve Lives.’
