SALT LAKE CITY — The need for competent, confident, compassionate nurses is growing, and so are the program offerings at Galen College of Nursing’s Salt Lake City campus.
Beginning with the September 29 term start, we will begin offering our 3-Year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at the Salt Lake City campus. This new offering joins the existing two-year Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program, which has been available since the campus opened in 2023. Galen introduced the 3-Year BSN program to address the region’s growing demand for nursing professionals.
“The launch of our BSN program represents an exciting next step for the campus,” said Regional Dean Jessica Burnett, DNP, RN, CNE. “Building on the success of our established ADN program, this expansion will provide future nurses with an additional pathway to enter the nursing profession while continuing our commitment to preparing compassionate, practice-ready graduates who can meet the healthcare needs of our communities.“
According to the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Utah is battling one of the most critical nursing shortages in the United States. Today, there is only one nurse for every 72 people in the state. While this marks a minor improvement from 2025’s ratio of 1 to 75, the deficit is still severe. As a member of the HCA Healthcare family, Galen College of Nursing is actively working with MountainStar Healthcare to address the state’s healthcare workforce shortage.
“Galen College of Nursing is already doing such important work to bring more Utahns into the nursing profession, and these new offerings will only accelerate that,” said Sabrina Braun, chief nurse executive for HCA Healthcare’s Mountain Division. “Their beautiful Draper campus is conveniently located and features state-of-the-art clinical learning tools to help prepare tomorrow’s caregivers. We’re fortunate that one of the nation’s leading nurse educators has a presence right here in the Beehive State.”
As one of the nation’s largest nursing educators, Galen College of Nursing offers four convenient start terms a year to help you begin your journey on your schedule. For over 35 years, we have been exclusively dedicated to nursing education. Today, we span 25 campuses across 13 states, in addition to offering advanced degrees 100% online.
