VINEYARD, Utah — Beloved New York-style slice shop Fini Pizza is making its first foray outside of the Empire State by opening its signature, community-driven dining experience in Utah City, a 700-acre mixed-use development and highly anticipated urban core of Utah County. It will simultaneously launch the neighboring Fini Café, Utah City’s new morning anchor serving premium, single-origin espresso along with pastries, savory treats, and light bites. It’s an inviting setting to start the day, socialize, or do some remote work. As an outdoor extension of the Fini experience, Fini Hoops is a branded, community basketball court that will debut in June.
Known for its classic New York and Sicilian-style pizzas and neighborhood vibe, Fini Pizza has built a loyal following through its commitment to simple, high-quality ingredients and a welcoming, neighborhood-centric atmosphere. The Utah City location marks an exciting expansion for the brand, introducing its iconic slices, whole pies, and curated menu of salads, beverages, and Italian ices to a new audience. Fini is the first New York City pizza brand to launch in Utah.
Co-founder Sean Feeney’s connection to Utah dates back to childhood. At age 11, he traveled from New Jersey to compete in the AAU Basketball National Championships, where early encounters with Utah Jazz figures and the state’s welcoming community left a lasting impression. Utah quickly became a meaningful place for his family, who returned over the years and deepened their connection to the Beehive State.
While many expected his first expansion beyond New York City to land in larger, metropolitan markets, Feeney always had a different vision. “I’ve long said our first venture outside of New York would be Utah,” he noted. “It may surprise people, but the state’s family-first values, discipline, and entrepreneurial spirit align perfectly with how we operate.”
Utah’s allure strengthened in recent years, as a growing number of Feeney’s New York City friends and loyal customers have relocated to the state.
The decision ultimately became about more than expansion. With Utah City, Feeney saw a rare opportunity to be part of something from the ground up—helping shape a new community while bringing a taste of New York with it, especially for his friends who crave it. “This isn’t just about opening another restaurant,” he said. “It’s about contributing to something that belongs to Utah as much as it does to New York.”
At the heart of Fini Pizza is a philosophy rooted in community and hospitality. The brand emphasizes inclusivity and aims to create spaces where guests feel like they belong—an extension of what the company calls “The FINI Way,” centered on bringing people together and delivering memorable experiences. First responders and teachers always enjoy The Good Day discount: 25 percent off their orders. Kids who read three books in a month earn a free pie. In June, the team will introduce Fini Hoops, a community basketball league that brings courts, culture, and connection to Utah City. Fini has a program called Clean Streets, in which they purchase and maintain trash cans throughout the neighborhoods they serve.
“Fini Pizza and Fini Café support the sense of community Utah City has created for our residents and visitors. With their commitment to building community, adding value, and bringing programs to enrich the lives of our neighbors, we felt their expansion into Utah was the perfect fit for the vision and future of Utah City, and we are thrilled to have them here,” said Jacklyn Briggs, director of marketing for Utah City.
The Utah City opening reflects Fini Pizza’s thoughtful growth beyond its original Brooklyn roots, expanding its reach while maintaining the authenticity and quality that define the brand.
