HEBER CITY, Utah — Heber City will take center stage in winter sports in January as PRO Skijor, North America’s first professional skijoring league, launches its inaugural Frontier Tour with a marquee event at the Wasatch County Events Center rodeo arena on January 16–17, 2026.

Skijoring—an adrenaline-charged winter sport where a horse and rider pull a skier through a snow-packed obstacle course—combines high-speed competition with deep Western heritage. The Heber City kickoff competition will feature elite and amateur racing, live music, local food vendors, and family-friendly activities, creating an all-day celebration of snow, speed, and community.

“Heber City is a natural fit for this series,” said PRO Skijor co-founder Brian Gardner. “Utah’s ski culture and Western roots make this the perfect place to showcase the sport at a professional level.” Co-founder Joe Loveridge added, “It’s rodeo energy meets ski-town attitude, and we’re excited to bring that experience to Heber City fans.”

Co-founded by Utah skijoring pioneers Gardner and Loveridge, PRO Skijor is supported by an experienced leadership team including Greg Lipstone, Chris Castallo, and Ben Kim. Together, the group aims to elevate skijoring through a professional, multi-city competition format.

Frontier Tour Experience

Each Frontier Tour stop transforms local fairgrounds and arenas into snow-packed courses featuring jumps, gates, and freestyle elements. Main competitive divisions include Pro-Open, Sport, Women’s, Snowboard, and All-Around, along with additional participation-focused divisions such as Novice, Century, Teen, and Lil’ Buckaroo & Ponies Only.
