SALT LAKE CITY — The David Eccles School of Business Online MBA program rose five spots in the latest Poets & Quants rankings, earning the No. 13 position overall in the publication’s Best Online MBA Programs in the U.S. for 2026.

The program also ranked No. 8 nationally among public institutions and No. 3 in the West, continuing its upward climb.

“This rise reflects the strength of the Online MBA experience and the outcomes our students are achieving,” said Brad Vierig, Associate Dean for Graduate Programs and Executive Education. “Our students are experienced professionals who come to Eccles to advance their careers. Half are promoted while in the program, and graduates report an average 36% salary increase.”

P&Q’s rankings methodology evaluates programs across three equally weighted categories: admissions standards, academic experience, and career outcomes. The Eccles Online MBA is designed for full-time professionals with at least one year of experience, most averaging nine years of professional experience before joining the program. The online format provides ultimate flexibility, allowing students to earn a top-ranked MBA from anywhere with an internet connection.

Eccles Online MBA students benefit from the same comprehensive career resources as their in-person peers, including a comprehensive set of career resources, including one-on-one career coaching led by an ICF Professional Certified Coach, résumé and LinkedIn reviews, mock interviews, workshops and strategy sessions, and entrepreneurial support through the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute and the Doman Innovation Studio.

“Our focus is on return on education,” said Kurt Dirks, Dean of the David Eccles School of Business. “We are intentional about combining academic rigor with real-world application and strong career support. That approach prepares our graduates to create meaningful impact.”

The Online MBA ranking adds to a strong portfolio of nationally recognized programs at the Eccles School, which currently has nine programs ranked in the top 25 overall by major publications and 11 programs ranked in the top 25 among public institutions.

As a Research 1 institution, the Eccles School continues to invest in faculty thought leadership. Faculty research published in top-tier journals directly informs the curriculum, ensuring students benefit from insights that are both academically rigorous and immediately applicable.
