SALT LAKE CITY — Geartrade, the leading independent online resale platform for outdoor gear and apparel, is helping outdoor industry innovators grow and evolve their resale programs, one important step at a time.
Through a series of industry first partnerships launched in the last 24 months with DPS, Flylow and Jones Snowboards, Geartrade provided recognized wintersport innovators with turnkey web design, sales management support, and complete fulfillment services that have enabled their branded resale programs to get up and running within weeks.
And as those programs have matured, Geartrade has also supported them in taking essential next steps such as last month, when DPS announced the widening of their award-winning trade-in program from solely accepting their own brand to welcoming trade-ins from all qualifying ski makers – an expansion fully supported by Geartrade operations.
“Widening the scope to welcome a full range of incoming product into a branded program is critical for growing both the appeal and the overall effectiveness of resale. Because as much as used gear has grown in popularity in the last few years, we still have an incredibly long way to go in terms of making a real dent in the amount of unloved and unused gear out there,” said Aaron Provine, president of Geartrade.
Geartrade originally launched their ‘Powered by Geartrade’ resale program services in October 2023 with the support of DPS Revive, a trade-in program that encourages brand fans to trade in their old DPS skis for credit toward a new pair. Providing a full suite of services from web design through warehousing and fulfillment, Geartrade also managed the refurbishment and resale of all incoming DPS skis.
The expanded DPS Revive program was unveiled in June 2025, and now accepts any brand of qualifying skis made in 2018 or later – or DPS skis from any season – for a credit of up to $500 depending on condition. All accepted skis are put through a 10-point factory tune process and treated with PHANTOM Glide—a permanent, high-performance base treatment that improves glide performance across a variety of snow conditions—before being listed for sale at Geartrade.com and DPSRevive.com.
“While they may be experts at the top of the mountain, most people are still beginners when it comes to resale. We’ve made it incredibly easy for people to get into outdoor gear resale with free shipping and a total hands-off selling experience, but they still need a little encouragement to clean out their closets,” said Aaron Provine, president of Geartrade.
While DPS is the latest ‘Powered by Geartrade’ partner to accept all brands in a resale program, Flylow was the first with their groundbreaking ‘Bib Buyback’ program that launched in fall 2024. Held each year from Oct. 1 to Dec. 1, Flylow’s Bib Buyback encourages skiers and riders to send in any pair of lightly used bibs to receive credit toward new gear. The program was launched as a spotlight component to Flylow Leftover Land, a year-round program accepting trade-ins of all Flylow apparel.
Also in fall 2024, Geartrade launched their support of the Jones Snowboards Re/Up program board recycling program, which – in addition to welcoming trade-ins of qualifying Jones boards for store credit – also welcomes dead boards from any brand to be sent in and remade into new snowboards through their groundbreaking Re-Up™ Tech reclamation process.
‘Powered by Geartrade’ partners choose from a range of services to support their individual needs. The scope of services includes web development to create a consumer facing presence within a brand’s current digital world; 100% free shipping for incoming and sold product; professional evaluation, pricing, photography, product listing of received product; instantaneous digital disbursement of trade-in coupons; best-in-class ski and snowboard tuning services; sales listings actively marketed to consumers through Geartrade.com; and optional creation of a parallel digital store on a brand’s own website.
