WEST HAVEN, Utah — Walmart (NYSE: WMT), the world’s leading omnichannel retailer, is excited to announce plans to become the first grocer in West Haven, creating approximately 300 new jobs.
The 176,000-square-foot West Haven Walmart Supercenter will be conveniently located in the 4200 block of S. Midland Drive, south of 4000 S. Street and offer the items, services and convenience West Haven residents need at Walmart’s Every Day Low Prices.
This announcement comes on the heels of another new Walmart store along the Wasatch Front. The Eagle Mountain Supercenter is under construction and scheduled to open later this summer. It’s all part of Walmart’s ambitious strategy to build or convert more than 150 stores nationally over the next several years, setting a new standard in retail by blending convenience, technology, and elevated experiences to meet the evolving shopping habits of today’s customers.
“West Haven is proud to have Walmart join our business district family. Being close to other municipalities, and with convenience in travel distance, this store will be a very needed asset to our city as well as others. This will be West Haven’s first grocery store for our almost 26,000 residents and will add needed amenities through sales tax to our city,” said West Haven Mayor Rob Vanderwood. “We are looking forward to the groundbreaking celebration soon and having it open to the public within a year! As this anchor store announces development dates, it will surely increase the area with other needed and accessible business opportunities.”
Designed with the customer in mind to make shopping faster, easier, and more connected, the West Haven Supercenter will help customers shop how, when, and where they want, offering a seamless blend of physical and digital experiences. Highlights include:
- Wide assortment of national and private brands and fresh produce
- Elevated departments in fashion, baby, home, and pets
- Modern pharmacy features a convenient drive-through for quick service. Inside, the pharmacy includes a new health services room to create a private space for immunizations and other clinical services.
- Reimagined vision center offers an all-new customer experience that features family tables and full-length mirrors for a functional try-on atmosphere
- QR codes throughout the store will unlock digital tools, resources, and instant access to an expanded assortment on Walmart.com
- Customer-centric amenities such as a mother’s room and auto care center
- A full-service fuel station with convenience store
- Best-in-class pickup and delivery options for groceries, prescriptions and general merchandise — including curbside pickup, fast delivery within 3 hours, express delivery as soon as 30 minutes — allowing customers to conveniently shop how and when they want.
“Walmart is honored to become West Haven’s first grocer and be a key part of the city’s future,” said Jay Cordray, Walmart’s Senior Vice President of Operations, West Business Unit. “We are committed to serving this growing community with a shopping experience that is both innovative and convenient.”
The store will create approximately 300 new jobs in West Haven - hourly and salaried positions that include world-class benefits like tuition-free college from day one, flexible scheduling, medical coverage and paid time off.
Construction is scheduled to begin late summer or early fall with an anticipated grand opening in fall of 2026.
