Cindy Baier is the former president, CEO and member of the board of directors of Brookdale Senior Living, the nation’s largest operator of senior living communities. During her tenure, she helped establish Brookdale as an industry leader in clinical excellence and operations while guiding the company through significant transformation and growth.
Baier joins the LHM board following the retirement of Robert Restrepo, who served for 10 years.

Before becoming CEO of Brookdale, Baier served as the company’s CFO and held executive leadership roles at both private and public companies.
In 2022, Baier published her book, “Heroes Work Here: An Extraordinary Story of Courage, Resilience, and Hope from the Front Lines of COVID-19,” which demonstrates how she and her team responded during one of the most challenging periods in senior care.

I look forward to sharing my experiences and perspectives, particularly in senior healthcare, and supporting the company’s future strategy and platform growth.”
Baier has a strong record of board leadership and currently serves as immediate past chair on the board of directors of the Nashville Health Care Council. She also serves on the board of the Tennessee Business Leaders Council; on the advisory board of NACD Nashville; and serves on the Vanderbilt University Medical Center Board, where she chairs the Quality and Safety Committee and serves on the Audit and Compliance Committee.
Baier is a certified public accountant and a graduate of Illinois State University, holding bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting.
