Seasoned development professional and Utah native Kyle Braithwaite has been named the director of CommonSpirit’s Holy Cross Health Foundation and chief philanthropy officer for the Utah market. In this role he will oversee fund-raising efforts to support CommonSpirit’s five nonprofit hospitals located along the Wasatch Front.

Kyle comes to the hospitals from Weber State University, where he served as a senior development officer for the past 12 years.

“Kyle’s dedication to building meaningful donor relationships and advancing philanthropic priorities will serve CommonSpirit’s mission in Utah of advancing the healing presence of God,” said Paul Ross, Vice President of Philanthropy for CommonSpirit’s Mountain Region, which includes Utah, Colorado and Kansas.

One of the first initiatives that Kyle will be focused on is garnering support for restoring the historic chapel on the Holy Cross Hospital – Salt Lake campus. The chapel was built in 1905, but sustained significant damage during the 2020 earthquake in Salt Lake City. It has been on the State Historic Registry since 1976. CommonSpirit is also focused on a number of mental health initiatives in the community, including suicide prevention.

“Utah has a legacy of philanthropy. I look at the countless individuals, companies, and foundations who generously supported the original Holy Cross Hospital. It is humbling. I look forward to expanding the impact of our hospitals here in Utah by partnering with members of our community whose values align with our mission. There are so many opportunities to improve the health of our friends and neighbors through philanthropic support,” Kyle said.

Kyle and his wife and six children reside in Roy.
