Tacos Together and Moxie Weighted Blankets attempt to break world record

Salt Lake City — On September 8th, Tacos Together, Moxie Weighted Blankets and Real Salt Lake are teaming up and bringing the community together in an attempt to break the world record for the largest blanket fort ever made. The Guinness Book of World Records will be there to verify and make it all official.

“The idea started over Memorial Day Weekend when our plans changed, and my kids decided we should have a movie day, but they wanted to have it in a blanket fort. We headed to Home Depot and bought some PVC pipe. Soon after that, the fort was done, and we watched movies in it! It wasn’t long after that the idea to break the world record came into view.” Paul Shin, Founder of Tacos Together.

It was shortly after that, Jami Furniss, founder of Moxie Weighted Blankets reached out to Shin about putting together an event. After about 5 minutes on the call, Shin knew Moxie Weighted Blankets would be the perfect partner for building the World’s largest blanket fort and he pitched the idea to Jami. She was immediately on board, and the magic started to happen.

It wasn’t long before the pieces started to fall into place, and Shin was putting this grand idea into action. The fort will be a massive 10,000 square feet and will be build using donated blankets. The donated blankets will come from the cost of admission to the event, which is a gently used or new blanket. All the blankets will be donated to the Road Home Shelter once the world record is broken.

“This is going to be an event that you don’t want to miss! I knew the second Paul told me about it that I wanted to be involved and make it happen. Tacos and weighted blankets… what more do you want?!”- Jami Furniss, founder of Moxie Weighted Blankets

Tacos will definitely be available along with a few other treats and Moxie Weighted Blankets will have a luxurious relaxation room full of their weighted blankets to try. You may even see a few Real Salt Lake players pop in for a surprise appearance.

Everyone is welcome to attend this once-in-a-lifetime event held September 8, 2022 from 10am to 6pm at Rio Tinto Stadium.

People wanting to donate blankets ahead of time can bring them to Sharehouse in Sandy in exchange for a free cookie certificate from Dirty Dough.
