Summer is on its way faster than a speeding bobsled. When warmer weather arrives, there’s no better place to experience elevated excitement and elegance this summer than Utah Olympic Park. Featuring thrilling activities and exceptional meeting space in a distinguished setting towering above Park City – Utah Olympic Park is your next destination to build camaraderie and leave lasting memories for everyone in your group.
Just 30 minutes from downtown Salt Lake City, Utah Olympic Park features sweeping views over the Snyderville Basin. The Park hosts both private and public groups for everything from evening corporate parties to daytime teambuilding sessions – and can accommodate groups numbering 15 to 5,000. Nine event space options include the lofty ski jumping start houses, lodge-style atmospheres and poolside pavilions to pair with a deep roster of one-of-a-kind activities.
Home to one of two bobsled tracks in the United States, the Summer Bobsled Experience is the ride of a lifetime. Professional pilots take three passengers at a time on a thrilling ride down the Olympic sliding track used during the 2002 Salt Lake Winter Games. Riders reach speeds up to 70 mph and rip through curves on wheeled sleds to create an indelible impression of how it feels to be an Olympian.
Designed with the thrill-seeker in mind, the new seven tower Zip Line Tour is an activity not to be missed. Participants will fly up to 161 feet above the canyon floor as they crisscross seven towers situated on a route along the most scenic portion of Utah Olympic Park. Total distance traveled is over a mile with speeds up to 40 mph.
Looking for another zip line adventure? Try the Extreme and Freestyle Zip Lines – mimicking the steepness and aerodynamics of flying off the K120 Nordic ski jumps. The Extreme Zip Line reaches speeds up to 50 miles per hour and pairs well with the tamer and more kid-friendly Freestyle Zip Line. Parties that skew to younger participants can also use the Discovery Ropes Course – a kid-friendly opportunity to test balance and agility suspended 10 to 15 feet above the ground.
The ski jumping thrills don’t end with the zip lines. Visitors can take a ride down the Nordic Ski Jump landing hill on an inner tube with the Extreme Tubing activity. Extreme Tubing takes place on the two Nordic Ski Jumps – the K64 smaller hill and the K90 larger hill. Riders gain speeds up to 50 miles per hour on the plastic surface that slides just like snow – descending rapidly for a few adrenaline-pumping seconds.
Located in the lower loop of the sliding track, groups can overcome challenges and build companionship with a climb on one of three ropes courses. The Canyon Course suspends guests 25 feet in the air and challenges them to solve puzzles like wire transfers and swinging elements. From there, teams can move up to the Summit Course – suspended 55 feet in the air – to provide a fun experience while testing agility, strength, and balance.
New-and-improved this summer is the return of the Alpine Slide. Now covered by a shade structure to beat the heat, the Alpine Slide imitates the excitement of the Olympic sliding track on a smaller scale. The stainless steel construction provides a smooth, comfortable ride for kids and adults alike – straightaways, drops and turns meshing perfectly with the scenic mountainside.
Rounding out activity offerings are the Airbag Jump and Drop Tower. Visitors can experience the life of a movie stunt person – leaping from platforms 5, 10 and 15 feet high onto the giant airbags below. The 65-foot high Drop Tower offers participants one way off after a short zip ride to the platform: A resistance cable ride to the ground with canyon views on the way down.
A crowning group attraction at Utah Olympic Park is the Flying Ace All-Star Shows. Featuring a star-studded lineup of current and former Olympians, World Champions and top-ranked acrobatic athletes, the Flying Ace All-Stars soar up to 60 feet in the air off-platform jumps – performing flips, twists and tricks before plunging into the 1.25 million-gallon Spence Eccles Olympic Freestyle Pool. Flanked by explosive firework finales, and enhanced by crowd interaction and routines set to music – this show will have the rapt attention of your group from the first splash to the last.
From summer parties to corporate events to employee retreats – the Utah Olympic Park is a destination imbued with the spirit of teamwork, challenge and excellence that made the 2002 Salt Lake Olympic Winter Games so remarkable. Infuse your event with the same feeling and book your group event today.
