Salt Lake City— The Women’s Business Center of Utah has been awarded the 2020 Women’s Business Center of Excellence Award for both Utah and Region IIIV by the US Small Business Administration (SBA). Region IIIV includes Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming.

The award honors a Women’s Business Center for its excellence in innovation in assisting women entrepreneurs by providing a wide variety of training and counseling.

“I want to commend Ann Marie Wallace and the Women’s Business Center of Utah team for their excellent work in supporting Utah’s women entrepreneurs as well as all small business owners,” said Dan Nordberg, SBA Regional Administrator. “ This regional recognition is well-deserved, and I trust their commitment to excellence will serve as an inspiration to business advocates across the country.”

In 2019, the Women’s Business Center of Utah served more than 3,500 Utah women business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs, which resulted in 110 new businesses started, 321 jobs created, $19.5M revenue earned and $1.4M in capital accessed.

“On a daily basis, the Women’s Business Center of Utah assists women entrepreneurs learn the necessary skills to create viable businesses, such as developing a business plan or accessing capital," said Derek Miller, president and CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber and Downtown Alliance. “Not only that, through its partnerships with chambers of commerce from across the state, the Center has been able to assist entrepreneurs from the Wasatch Front to Rural Utah achieve the dream of business ownership. Their efforts are pivotal to the success of Utah’s small business community and we applaud them for this well-deserved recognition."
