Steward Health Care responds to COVID-19 outbreak

Salt Lake City — The health and safety of our community is our top priority. We continue to monitor the local, national and global situations regarding coronavirus (COVID-19) and are in close communication with the Utah Department of Health (UDOH), the Center for Disease and Control (CDC), and with other health care partners. Our medical staff includes expertly trained personnel experienced in routinely caring for patients with respiratory illness and infectious diseases, and we are committed to continuing to safely care for our community.

Out of an abundance of caution, we have activated hospital preparedness protocols to:

  • Prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, including COVID-19, within the facility.
  • Maintain the health and wellbeing of our employees.
  • Promptly identify and isolate patients with possible COVID-19 and inform the correct facility staff and public health authorities.
  • Care for patients with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 as part of routine operations, and potentially care for a larger number of patients in case of an escalating outbreak.
  • Coordination protocols in place to effectively communicate with Public Health officials.
  • Developing surge staffing models and operational plans in case of an escalating outbreak.
