Snell & Wilmer Partner Denise A. Dragoo named to The 2024 Lawdragon 500 Leading Energy Lawyers

Salt Lake City—Snell & Wilmer is pleased to announce that Salt Lake City partner Denise A. Dragoo has been named to the 2024 Lawdragon 500 Leading U.S. Energy Lawyers guide.

According to the publication, the 2024 Lawdragon 500 Leading U.S. Energy Lawyers guide recognizes attorneys who specialize in helping a vast array of energy companies finance and develop new power sources; navigate regulatory frameworks; and litigate oil and gas and other important disputes. It is an elite look at those lawyers and firms energy companies depend on most.

Lawdragon describes its selection process as including over 35 years of researching and reporting on the legal profession and creating guides to the most effective legal professionals. Their team brings more than 100 years in the lawyer reporting and information business. Lawdragon selected these lawyers through its long-honed process of combining journalistic research, nominations and vetting by peers. They accept submissions and review them alongside thousands of candidates they identify and consider for each guide. They also work with editorial advisors in each substantive area to develop the focus of the guide and identify qualified talent. They are an advocate for inclusion and this edition of the U.S. Energy Lawyers guide is 32 percent female and 16 percent inclusive.

Dragoo is a partner in Snell & Wilmer’s Salt Lake City office where she focuses on natural resources, coal law, water law, environmental law, mining law, public land law, issues affecting the oil and gas industry, mine safety and health law. She has done environmental permitting for mining and energy-related projects, many of which are located on public land. She also assists clients with compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act and related administrative appeals. She practices before the U.S. Department of Interior Board of Land Appeals, the Utah Board of Oil, Gas and Mining and state and federal environmental agencies. Dragoo’s legal career has spanned over 40 years, during which time she has held leadership positions with the State Law Resources Board, Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation, Mountain States Legal Foundation and the Rocky Mountain Coal Mining Institute. She’s also very active in the community, recently serving as President of The Alta Club, and has held board and leadership positions with the Utah Foundation, The Utah Museum of Contemporary Art and the Junior League of Salt Lake City.
