SOUTH JORDAN, Utah — The City of South Jordan is excited to announce that it will move forward with the construction of a new Senior Center at The District in South Jordan. This decision comes after the City carefully considered public feedback on its 2023 proposal to build a new Senior Center and housing project.
The new plan will include expanded senior living opportunities, with approximately 200 total units, 75% or more of which will meet affordable housing guidelines, integrated alongside the Senior Center. At approximately 17,000 square feet, the Senior Center will feature versatile spaces for activities, a commercial-style kitchen, and accessible parking to serve the growing senior population.
This project represents a strong partnership between the City of South Jordan, Ivory Innovations, Call to Action, and The Boyer Company, and reflects ongoing collaboration with existing tenants at The District. The City has worked closely with anchor tenants including Target and JCPenney, and is excited to be joining the District community with this key amenity for residents.
“South Jordan seniors deserve a place to connect, learn, and thrive, and we are thrilled to bring that vision to life at The District,” said Mayor Dawn R. Ramsey. “This project reflects our community’s values and the City’s commitment to listening to residents while strengthening partnerships that benefit everyone.”
City Council Member Don Shelton, who serves as the liaison to the Senior Advisory Committee, added: “This new Senior Center is the result of thoughtful planning and collaboration. It will not only provide a much-needed gathering place for our seniors but also expand affordable housing options, ensuring that more residents can continue to call South Jordan home.”
Details regarding groundbreaking and construction timelines will be released in the weeks ahead. For project information and answers to Frequently Asked Questions, residents are encouraged to visit the City’s website.
