SALT LAKE CITY — Ministry of Visual Affairs (MVA), in collaboration with Lotus, announces the opening of Republic 2, a new Multi-family and gathering space designed to reflect the rhythm and energy of downtown Salt Lake City.

Republic 2 builds on the Republic phase one’s goal of providing exceptional living steps away from downtown. For MVA, it was an opportunity to design a space that isn’t just in the city, but belongs to it.

“Republic 2 feels like a bridge between the Avenues and downtown,” said Michael Hennessey, founder of MVA. “We wanted to create a space that captures the living vibe of the neighborhood while tying directly into the momentum of downtown. It’s also connected to Citizens next door, so there’s this seamless thread between social life, work, and community.”

The interiors embrace contrast: raw textures alongside refined finishes, open collaboration areas next to more intimate spaces. The design mirrors the tension and creativity of the city itself — a downtown that mixes history, grit, and growth.

For Lotus, Republic 2 continues their investment in projects that serve as cultural anchors around Utah. For MVA, it’s another step in shaping how design can influence urban life and community at the street level.
