PARK CITY, Utah — Marcella at Jordanelle Ridge is expanding its golf offering with a bold new course designed by King Collins Dormer Golf Design (KCD), the architects behind Sweetens Cove, one of the most beloved golf destinations in the country. Ambush, a private 18-hole championship course, will break ground this summer.
Set atop the ridgelines above the Heber valley, Ambush will bring a new dimension of architecture, strategy and thrill to mountain golf. It will join Skyline, the TGR Design and Tiger Woods course already under construction, establishing Marcella as the first private club in the Mountain West to offer two distinct championship courses from two of golf’s most recognized designers.
“The site upon which Ambush will be built is one of the most diverse, dramatic and beautiful locations for a golf course we’ve ever seen,” said Rob Collins, partner at KCD. “There are multiple sections of the property, each with their own character. The meandering ridge, which marks the start and finish to the round, is populated by a string of cliff’s edge holes with panoramic views, while the middle of the round is characterized by a sublime set of natural golf holes that are nestled into an Aspen-lined valley. Our team is excited and prepared to weave together eighteen distinctive, walkable and playable holes across this otherworldly terrain. It is a truly special privilege to have the opportunity to perform this work.”
Known for their work at Sweetens Cove and other acclaimed projects around the country, KCD has become synonymous with expressive design and unforgettable shot-making opportunities. Ambush will continue that legacy, offering a modern mountain golf experience that balances beauty, playability and challenge.
“Selecting KCD is a reflection of our ambition to build something truly remarkable,” said Jared Lucero, CEO of REEF and developer of Marcella at Deer Valley. “Their courses deliver the kind of magic that makes people fall in love with the game all over again. Ambush will be no exception — it’s going to be a place where people remember every round.”
The course will be exclusive to Marcella members, completing a 36-hole private club experience. Marcella amenities span three locations: Marcella at Deer Valley, Marcella at Jordanelle Ridge and Marcella on Main, located in Old Town Park City. Marcella is a collaboration between REEF Capital Partners, Raintree Investment Corporation and Crosslake Partners. With the purchase of real estate in either Marcella at Deer Valley or Marcella at Jordanelle Ridge, buyers gain access to all three locations, featuring world-class golf and ski amenities.
“Ambush provides a second flagship course with its own personality, identity and edge,” said Cody Winterton, division president of Raintree Investment Corporation and developer of Marcella at Jordanelle Ridge. “Together, these courses form the core of something truly rare — a complete high-altitude golf and lifestyle community built for generations. With the help of KCD, we are prioritizing thoughtful land planning, conservation and open space preservation as part of our commitment to environmental stewardship.”
To date, Marcella’s golf memberships have officially sold out, while ski memberships are still available and offer the same level of access to the Marcella lifestyle, excluding unlimited golf.
