SALT LAKE CITY — Craft Lake City and GFiber are thrilled to announce the return of the GFiber STEM Building to the 17th Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival Presented By Harmons for the 11th consecutive year!

The GFiber STEM Building invites festival attendees to explore science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) through interactive exhibits and live demonstrations. Over 40 of Utah’s engineers, scientists, tech enthusiasts, inventors, leading research institutions and local STEM-focused businesses will be sharing their knowledge and passion throughout the weekend through hands-on activities and demonstrations. Highlights include the fan-favorite DIY water rocket launches, a robotics team and more to be announced.

The 17th Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival Presented By Harmons will take place Fri., Aug. 8, Sat., Aug. 9 and Sun., Aug. 10 at the Utah State Fairpark. This year’s festival is expected to welcome 350 local artisans & vintage vendors, dozens of craft food & food truck vendors, more than 50 youth entrepreneurs, more than 40 local performers and over 40 STEM exhibitors, reaching an accumulated 500+ Utah creatives in total.

“GFiber is proud to partner with Craft Lake City to foster STEM engagement in the Utah community,” said Alberto Garcia, Government & Community Affairs Manager for GFiber. “The DIY Festival’s STEM Building offers a one-of-a-kind experience for interactive learning and discovery in science, technology, engineering, and math. We’re proud to continue supporting this meaningful event that brings the community together through education and innovation.”

A consistent standout, the STEM Building has been a staple of the DIY Fest since 2012. In 2015, GFiber joined as a partner rebranding the area to the GFiber STEM Building at the Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival Presented By Harmons.“Long-term partnerships, like our collaboration with GFiber, are one of the keys to Craft Lake City’s year-over-year success,” says Craft Lake City Executive Director, Angela H. Brown. “We are grateful for GFiber’s support over the past 10 years. We look forward to 10 more!”

GFiber has also helped Craft Lake City’s year-round STEM programming grow with our rocket launch program. Using water rockets, Craft Lake City teaches concepts like the scientific method and Newton’s Laws to Title 1 elementary schools, private schools, middle schools and high schools across Utah. Through our rocket launch program, Craft Lake City and GFiber bring new avenues of creativity to all ages.

“GFiber’s support of our STEM Building and rocket launches make fervorous excitement around Science, Technology, Engineering and Math possible.” says Craft Lake City’s Development Coordinator, Andy Fletcher. “The GFiber STEM Building continues to help our programming grow each year, as it uplifts and empowers Utah’s scientists, researchers, STEM-related businesses, young minds and wider community by engaging curiosity, building connections and providing support.”
