SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Jazz announced two new courts are coming to parks in Orem and Springville this summer as part of their ongoing Community Courts initiative. This program helps towns and cities across the state refurbish and construct basketball courts to bring residents together through a shared love of the sport. The Utah Jazz worked closely with the parks departments in both cities on these projects and partnered with Clyde Companies, Layton Construction and LVT to establish and support newly laid concrete basketball courts and a perimeter fence around the Springville court.
“These courts are a tangible result of shared investment in the communities we serve,” said Chris Barney, president of revenue and commercial strategy for Smith Entertainment Group. “The Jazz are able to bring resources for this program to parks across Utah because we have the unwavering support of partners like Clyde Companies, Layton Construction and LVT who understand the importance of community gathering spaces and safe recreation opportunities.”
A grand opening event will take place in Orem on June 24 at 3:00 P.M. at the new court at Windsor Park located by the west parking lot and near the tennis courts. The court on the northwest side of Memorial Park in Springfield is currently being constructed, and a grand opening is planned for later this summer.
Clyde Companies, a Utah-based provider of premier construction products, continues to play a foundational role in the Community Courts initiative by supplying concrete to each site, including the new courts in Orem and Springville.
“Our Clyde Companies mission is centered around building better communities, and we’re grateful to the Utah Jazz for the opportunity to support these new community courts,” said Jeremy Hafen, President & CEO of Clyde Companies. ”We’re especially excited they’re in two places that hold deep meaning for us—Orem, the current location of our headquarters, and Springville, where our journey began 100 years ago. It’s an honor to give back to the communities that have helped shape who we are.”
Layton Construction, a longtime partner of the Utah Jazz, contributed funds to support the construction of the Springville court. Their involvement reflects their ongoing commitment to improving community spaces through collaborative projects with the Utah Jazz.
“Our partnership with the Utah Jazz and Smith Entertainment Group is rooted in a shared vision to strengthen communities across Utah,” said David S. Layton, CEO and president of Layton Construction. “This new court in Springville is more than just a place to play—it’s a space where kids can grow, neighbors can connect, and the community can thrive. We’re proud to support projects that invest in the places we live and the people we serve.
LVT is a Utah-built and -based national provider of innovative life safety and security technology, and the Official Jersey Patch Partner of the Utah Jazz. In addition to other Community Court sites, LVT technology will be present at the courts in Orem and Springville to provide real-time safety solutions and monitoring insights to city and park officials.
“Everyone should have the right to feel safe and enjoy their local park,” said Derek Boggs, VP of Marketing for LVT. “Our mission is to make the world a safer and more secure place, and we believe that small changes in a community can make large changes in the lives of the people who call it home. LVT is honored to support the Utah Jazz Community Courts initiative by ensuring these parks are safe for all to enjoy.”
The grand opening celebration at Windsor Park in Orem on June 24 will include remarks from representatives from the Utah Jazz, Clyde Companies and Orem Mayor David Young. The event will include a ribbon-cutting with appearances from Jazz Bear and the Zyia Active Jazz Dancers, along with live DJ entertainment and frozen treats for attendees. The Jazz and the city of Orem will also host a free basketball clinic for 50 local youth on the new court and a Utah Jazz player will join the group for the session. The clinic will be led by Jazz camp coaches and each participant will receive their own Utah Jazz-branded basketball.
The Community Courts initiative remains a cornerstone of the broader Jazz mission to support physical activity, connection and access to resources. To date, the program has introduced 25 new or refurbished basketball courts at parks across the state and it continues to grow, with additional court locations planned for the 2025-26 NBA season.
