SALT LAKE CITY — The Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation is proud to announce the distribution of over $500,000 in funding to support more than 38 nonprofit organizations on Salt Lake City’s Westside. This investment underscores the Miller Family Foundation’s commitment to fostering growth, opportunity, and well-being in the community.

Westside Community Grants have been allocated to a diverse range of projects to address critical needs within the Miller Family Foundation’s five main giving platforms: health and medicine, shelter and food security, education and skill development, jobs and economic self-reliance, and culture and spiritual enrichment. The funding will create sustainable solutions to continue enhancing these vibrant neighborhoods.

“The response to the Westside Community Grant Initiative has been inspiring, and we are encouraged by the incredible work happening across Salt Lake City’s west side,” said Julie Ramos, managing director of the Miller Family Foundation. “It‘s an honor to support organizations that drive meaningful change, and we look forward to seeing the lasting impact these investments will have in strengthening and uplifting the community.”

The funding will support a variety of projects aimed at organizations that are addressing the social determinants of health. Some of the notable recipients include:

  • Centro Civico Mexicano
  • Comunidad Materna
  • Club Ability
  • Hartland Community 4 Youth & Families
  • Neighborworks
  • Suazo Business Center
  • NeighborWorks
  • University Neighborhood Partners (Westside Leadership Institute)

“This grant has been a catalyst for transformation not only in our organization but in our surrounding community,” said Sheena Alaiasa, director of the Pacific Heritage Academy and recipient of a Westside Community grant. “We are grateful for the support of the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation, who have helped strengthen the neighborhood and created a lasting impact on the Westside.”

The Westside Community Grant Initiative funding was made possible, in part, from philanthropic dollars contributed by Intermountain Health. Their collaboration has been instrumental in helping advance a shared mission of fostering community development on Salt Lake City’s west side. Their matching contributions of over $175,000 funded 17 organizations on the Westside, helping those organizations amplify their impact.

“We are proud to support the Westside Community Grant Initiative alongside the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation,” said Lisa Nichols, vice president of Community Health at Intermountain Health. “Our shared commitment to addressing social drivers of health and improving access to care is vital for fostering healthier, more resilient communities. We look forward to seeing the positive impact these grants will have.”

The Westside Community Grant Initiative is a key component of the Miller Family Foundation’s larger effort to foster growth and opportunity in the Westside community. Through strategic partnerships with organizations who are working with and within these Westside neighborhoods, this effort aims to enhance and enrich the lives for all residents.

“We are deeply committed to the well-being and growth of the Westside,” said Steve Starks, CEO of the Larry H. Miller Company. “The Westside Community Grant Initiative will impact generations of families in our Capital City and foster a thriving future for the families and businesses that call this community home.”
