With All-Star activities heating up next week, and worsening air quality projected the next several days, the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) encourages people to take zero fare public transit.
UTA is reminding Wasatch Front residents that zero fares across the system begin this Sunday, Feb. 12, and will be in effect through Feb. 21. In anticipation of All-Star week activities starting to
ramp up – in combination with worsening air quality forecasted for the next several days – UTA is the best way to get around downtown and to events throughout the community. For these ten days, residents – and the 100,000 or more visitors expected for the All-Star events – can ride the entire UTA system at no cost. This includes Bus, Ski Bus, TRAX, FrontRunner, the S-Line streetcar, paratransit, and UTA On Demand.
Last month, the UTA Board of Trustees announced ten zero fare days from Feb. 12-21, during All-Star week. UTA is also providing a ticket-as-fare promotion for airport travelers the entire month of February. Anyone flying to and from the Salt Lake City International Airport or Provo Municipal Airport can ride free
with their printed or digital airline boarding pass.“We are thrilled to provide zero fare for ten days surrounding the All-Star events hosted by the Utah Jazz,” said UTA Board Chair Carlton Christensen. “This is part of our efforts to support the community, boost Utah’s economy, and join with our partners in welcoming thousands of visitors to the region and to Utah.” UTA is also planning extra service and expanded hours on TRAX, FrontRunner, and various bus routes during All-Star week. People are encouraged to download and use the Transit app to plan their trips.
