Sandy— Bank of Utah has brought on Ulises Fernandez to serve as branch manager in its full-service branch at 9320 South State Street in Sandy. Fernandez is replacing long-time Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager Teresa Thompson, who is taking on a new position for the bank as assistant vice president and branch operation specialist.

Thompson, a 34-year veteran of the banking industry, has served as branch manager for Bank of Utah’s Sandy location since 2013. Thompson has managed the daily operations of several Bank of Utah branches and served as a bank customer representative since she was hired by the bank in 2004. Previously, Thompson held positions at Chase Bank, Bank One and Valley Bank.

Fernandez has more than 12 years of retail, regional, and general management experience and was most recently employed as branch manager for U.S. Bank. Prior to that, he served as general manager for Precision Time. Originally from Argentina, Fernandez received an associate degree in construction from E.E.T. No.2. He has volunteered for more than 12 years as the local board president of Emerging Minority Leaders for the PTA, which identifies and empowers minority families. Fernandez is a watch/clock maker and enjoys writing poetry and playing in a band. He has been married for three years.
