Salt Lake City— Utah Independent Business Coalition (UIBC) fully supports Governor Gary Herbert’s statewide mask mandate that was issued this past Sunday. The mandate is in response to increasing demand on Utah’s hospital networks due to a steep rise in COVID-19 cases. Under the mask mandate, all Utahns must wear masks in public and when within six feet of anyone that do not live in the same household.
UIBC encourages all Utah businesses and Utahns to follow the mask mandate and take all necessary precautions to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
“As the owners of local, small businesses, it’s important to do everything we possibly can to reduce the spread of COVID-19,” says Doug Burton, President of UIBC. “This includes supporting the mask mandate and following safety guidance from the Utah Department of Health to help protect customers and employees. This is ultimately about staying open for business and doing our part to ensure that local hospitals have enough capacity to properly treat COVID-19 cases.”
UIBC also supports the statewide Stay Safe to Stay Open (stayopenutah.com) campaign that empowers businesses to communicate to their consumers that they have pledged to follow safety guidance from the Utah Department of Health.
