Provo— It is important to know that there are local businesses surviving the Covid-19 pandemic. They are doing so by being quick to adjust their business models in hopes that it will minimize the overall impact on their businesses.
Reports across the country have shown that local businesses are taking the largest hit as shoppers turn to large corporations and retailers to get their goods online. The restaurant industry is also seeing this trend, forcing some small, local operators to close their doors. Brooker’s Founding Flavors, a locally owned ice cream parlor in Utah county, quickly adapted their business strategy by offering curbside pickup and a temporary drive-thru that allows customers to stay safely in their cars while treating themselves to some therapy snacks.
Brooker’s Founding Flavors also recently announced their expansion into a second location, adjacent to BYU campus in Provo, Utah, and held a grand opening on April 24th. The event was a success and is a sign of hope for other local restaurateurs. Visit either one of their locations, Provo or Vineyard, Monday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
While no one is able to fully anticipate the disruption Covid-19 will continue to have on local businesses, Brooker’s Founding Flavors is a great example of a business doing everything possible to not only survive but expand their business in the midst of a worldwide pandemic and economic crisis.
Colliers International Retail specialist Brittany Ferris represented Brooker’s Founding Flavors in this transaction. Ferris remarked, " I have worked with Brian and Jamie Brooker for the past several years and have continually been impressed by their innovation, passion, and excellence as restaurateurs. In a time where restaurants, especially local establishments, are fighting to stay alive, it is truly a beacon of hope for our industry to see a new location open with enthusiasm and excitement”.
