Salt Lake City—  AvidXchange, the leading provider of accounts payable (AP) and payment automation solutions, today announced Rob Phocas as its new Director of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Mr. Phocas brings a robust background in sustainability and environmental law to the AvidXchange team, including 10 years with the city of Charlotte as the Director of Sustainability. As the Director of CSR, Mr. Phocas will lead the company’s community engagement efforts across all five U.S. office locations. He will also oversee the strategic direction of the AvidXchange Foundation, working with local partners and teammate volunteers to carry out the mission of making a difference in the lives of children. Prior to his tenure as Director of Sustainability, Mr. Phocas served as Charlotte’s Assistant City Attorney for three years. He received a bachelor’s degree in history from Vassar College. Additionally, Mr. Phocas earned his Juris Doctor degree and Master of Environmental Management in environmental economics and policy from Duke University.

Salt Lake City— Love Communications, one of the Western Region’s most prominent full-service advertising, digital, marketing and public relations firms, brings on five impressive new hires sure to positively impact the ever-growing agency. Departments including accounting, media, account service, interactive services and office management each have gained a new team member. The Love team is proud to welcome:

Amber Banks has assumed the vital role of controller at Love Communications, where she is responsible for the management of day-to-day finances, accounting operations and human resources for the agency. Amber brings nearly three decades of financial experience from her time working as a controller with a number of notable agencies in Utah. She graduated from Salt Lake Community College with an associate degree in business management.

Annie Studer is the newest member of the account service team and serves as a senior account manager. She oversees production and execution of media campaigns for several of Love’s current clients. Annie adds value to her accounts through her years of experience in marketing, management, and public and media relations. She graduated from the University of Montana with a degree in International Relations and received her MBA at the University of Utah.

Kat Fedorova joins Love as a media buyer and excels at obtaining the best rates and values for placing advertising. She collaborates with the analytics team to find the most innovative strategies to reach each demographic for the client. Kat has worked as a media buyer for the past five years at other agencies in Utah and has helped increase sales by more than 30 percent. She graduated from the University of Utah in the David Eccles School of Business.

Emily Manwaring joins Love as a web designer with eight years of experience working in web design and branding. She has worked for companies across Utah and brings her talents to develop creative design solutions. With Emily’s broad skillset, she will be the liaison between both creative and technological sides during web development for Love’s clients. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Digital Media from Utah Valley University.

Ian Smith is the new face at the front, working as Love’s office manager. After serving many years in the customer service industry, he has proven himself to be accurate and efficient when working in a client-centered, multitasking environment. With a constant service-oriented mindset, Ian is in charge of directing incoming calls, accommodating clients and trafficking the agency’s media.

Ogden—Former CEO and president of AMBank, Leonel E. Castillo, has joined Bank of Utah as a senior vice president relationship manager. BOU Bancorp, Inc., the holding company for Bank of Utah, purchased AmBancorp, the holding company for American Bank of Commerce (AmBank) in Dec. 2018. The transaction added three new Bank of Utah branches in Lindon, Provo and Heber City, to the Utah-owned bank’s existing 14 full-service bank branches from Logan to Provo. Mr. Castillo served in several key leadership capacities for AM Bank in its various growth stages including president and CEO of American Bank, and CEO of AMBank and American Bank of Commerce. Castillo also has served on the board of the Utah Bankers Association and ExOfficio LLC, and as a member of the Utah State Board of Bank Advisors. Castillo also has been a board member and secretary/treasurer of Utah Valley Home Builders Association. He is a supporter of the Friends of Housing PAC and UVHBA honored him by naming a scholarship program after him.
