Connext unveils plans, construction commences on the Ogden City Fiber Project as Connext solidifies dedication to providing a fiber connection to every Ogden residence

Ogden—Utah-based fiber optic ISP Connext Internet Services activated the initial stages of construction on the Ogden City Fiber Project Monday, May 22, 2023. The team kicked off the project with the introduction of the OCFP fiber optic backhaul and associated infrastructure as the locally owned and operated fiber specialist continues to expand the fiber infrastructure across Northern Utah. This project is wide reaching, as Connext Officials have doubled down on the organization’s dedication to connecting all of Ogden City. Connext is installing a citywide infrastructure that will bridge the digital divide while enhancing the connectivity for every residence exponentially.

“Connext has had a strategic relationship with Ogden City for 5+ years. During that partnership, we’ve helped Ogden City reduce or remove many of their telecommunications connectivity costs. One of those examples was helping them set up some of their wireless infrastructure. Within the last few years Connext has installed miles of fiber-optic infrastructure for Ogden City. The most notable recent project was a 5 Mile Fiber-Optic Ring for the Ogden City Airport. During our time working together, we feel we have developed a great working relationship with the Ogden City IT department.”

-Connext CEO David Brown

In anticipation of building fiber-optic infrastructure throughout all of Ogden City, Connext officially franchised with the City in April of last year.  Since that time, Connext has been building backhaul infrastructure to and through all of Ogden to provide a highly versatile and redundant network for Ogden City, its residents, and businesses.

Connext has completed fiber-optic infrastructure to hundreds of homes in Ogden with the planning and engineering completed for thousands more. New construction begins this week, with Connext increasing its focus on completing Ogden City within the next couple of years.

“We have finished Farr West and Clinton City and are nearing the completion of Plain City, South Weber and Kaysville City. Connext is actively building in several other cities, passing thousands of homes each month.”

-Connext CEO David Brown
