Tamarak announces Malouf Foundation as official charity partner

Springville— Tamarak Capital officially announced the Malouf Foundation as the company’s primary charity partner. Together, these two organizations will seek out new opportunities to help children in need supporting their goal of ending the trafficking of children worldwide.

Located in Logan, Utah, the Malouf Foundation is the non-profit arm of the bedding and furniture company Malouf™. The Foundation collaborates with a number of local, state, and national organizations to fight child sex trafficking and exploitation.

Tamarak Partner and CFO Nate McBride commented, “Of the many worthwhile causes that exist, I don’t know of any that are as critical as helping the defenseless. Millions of children worldwide are counting on our outreach, and we can all make a difference in rescuing them from slavery and abuse. We’re proud to partner with the Malouf Foundation and join them in this mission to bring hope and light to children who desperately need it.”

Tamarak’s employees undertake the Foundation’s OnWatch™ training as part of their company onboarding. The training is designed to educate people on the signs of trafficking and how to respond when they see something.

Additionally, Tamarak works with the Malouf Foundation through public charitable events. This September, the company will host its annual golf tournament for portfolio companies in Utah Valley and all proceeds will benefit the Malouf Foundation. Other future events hosted by Tamarak—including a soon-to-be-announced startup growth summit—will include the Malouf Foundation as a visible cause.

“Tamarak has been a major supporter of our cause ever since they were introduced to the Foundation,” said Kacie Malouf, chair of the Malouf Foundation and partner at Tamarak. “Now that they’ve adopted the Foundation as their official charity, we can work even more closely to positively impact more lives.”

A broader purpose has always been important to the Tamarak team. Previously, they’ve contributed to efforts benefiting the University of Utah Burn Center and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

“There is a thinner line between business and charity than many might readily believe,” said Brenton Hatch, a partner at Tamarak. “As we have engaged with various charities over the years, I have realized that integrating business and charitable purpose brings efficacy to both. Our business initiatives are made more meaningful with a sense of real-life impact, and our charitable causes are likewise expedited when they have an underlying financial engine to fuel sustainable growth and expansion. Our partnership with the Malouf Foundation will be a great example of such an integration.”

Several of Tamarak’s portfolio companies have a non-profit arm or charitable component integrated into their mission. Spire Ranges, Driven Auto, Habi, and Hallo are a few of these companies using their business influence to make a difference in their industry’s charitable causes.
