The Gateway hosts distanced LIVE Theatre

Salt Lake City— The Gateway<http://shopthegateway.com>, Utah’s premier place for entertainment, announces an all-new immersive theatre experience debut, THROUGH YONDER WINDOW, by SONDERimmersive, in collaboration with The Utah Arts Alliance, beginning in early June at The Gateway. This hour-long live performance, created in direct response to our COVID-19 moment, is an intimate immersive theatre experience, as safe as staying home, in which the audience never leaves their cars*.

SONDERimmersive – known for its unique blend of dance, theatre, audience experience, and unexpected environments-will transform The Gateway’s North parking garage into the town of fair Verona, where feuding households and unbridled passions are bound to erupt into chaos at any moment. Montagues, Capulets, and familiar townspeople live out stories of forbidden love, passion, tragedy, revenge, and redemption, all while maintaining a safe six feet of physical distance.

These unique performances will be held Thursday through Saturdays, beginning June 4, for a limited engagement. Tickets are $45 per car and are available at www.ThroughYonderWindow.com<http://www.ThroughYonderWindow.com>. Performances available for purchase are Thursday-Saturday June 4, 5 and 6 and 11, 12 and 13, 2020. Theatre patrons are urged to make a night of it by visiting one of The Gateway’s top-rated restaurants and food establishments for a distanced dinner before the show or by getting curbside and enjoying dinner during the live performance in the comfort of their car. Restaurants that are open for dine-in and take-out are available on atthegateway.com.

Upon entering the garage, each car is directed into a specific spot in Verona where they will remain for the entirety of the show, which happens all around them. Depending on where your car is placed, and where your eye is drawn, each has their own experience. Sound will be piped into cars via a radio channel for great audio quality.

Produced by the creative duo behind Sonder, which occupied a 3-story empty nightclub, and The Chocolatier (formerly Thank You Theobromine) in a working chocolate shop, Graham Brown and Rick Curtiss are back, in collaboration with The Gateway, Utah Arts Alliance, Art Director Jake Buntjer, and Composer Wachira Waigwa-Stone with Through Yonder Window A rare live experience in a socially distant time.

“We are so excited to debut this truly unique theatre production at The Gateway as we strive to create new entertainment experiences in a way that protects our customers at The Gateway,” says Jacklyn Briggs, marketing director for The Gateway. “Now that we have restaurants open again, the whole family can make a culturally-rich night of it by dining in our fabulous restaurants before the show or getting take out from any of them to enjoy dinner WHILE they watch the show.”

We recommend calling individual merchants and visiting http://shopthegateway.com/dineatthegateway/ for the most current hours and offerings.
