Founder & CEO | Skill Struck

What is the most fulfilling part of the work you do?

The most fulfilling part of our work at Skill Struck is the generational impact we have on the lives of students. By providing computer science education to under-served and disadvantaged students at a young age, they gain a foundation for career success. Our team is highly motivated to hear stories of impact on a daily basis.

Who inspires you?

Davis Smith, the founder and former CEO of Cotopaxi. He pioneered a way for social good companies to prioritize both sustainable impact and sustainable profits. While studying entrepreneurship, I heard him speak in several settings, and he sparked my desire to start a company with a lasting impact on the lives of others. I am impressed by the need for creativity in this process. It is hard enough to start a business, let alone one that can consistently serve other people, all while making payroll each month. Skill Struck has a long way to go, but it is inspiring to watch the many social impact companies out there.

What advice do you have for other young professionals?

If you look at the news or social media, there is no shortage of problems in the world. There is also no shortage of finger-pointers who cast blame for those problems. I am constantly blown away at the superpowers of those who passionately find sustaining solutions to those problems, and it’s easier than you think to find these types of organizations that accomplish good in the world.
