Los Angeles, CA—The venture capital events company Progression has opened registration for its inaugural conference, Progression 2024, to be held at the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team’s USANA Center of Excellence in Park City, UT on May 2nd, 2024. Progression’s purpose, the company’s website states, is to “identify the most innovative companies in the VC landscape that align with advancing a non-profit’s core mission.”

Progression 2024 is being held in partnership with Protect Our Winters (POW), a non-profit based in Boulder, CO devoted to helping passionate outdoor people protect the places and experiences they love from climate change. POW, which was founded in 2007 by professional snowboarder Jeremy Jones, allies with athletes, scientists, brands, and creatives to promote climate advocacy among outdoors enthusiasts and support climate-focused campaigns at the local, state, and federal levels. POW’s advocacy ranges from education and training, to public lands protections and support for clean energy infrastructure expansion.

While POW’s policy priorities have paid special attention to making the clean energy transition a bipartisan issue, its partnership with Progression for Progression 2024 marks a diversification of how it attacks the issue; finding a creative means to harness the power of venture capital to further its mission and support purpose-driven companies.“Innovative startups and progressive investors have the power to unlock the technical solutions and financial instruments needed to take on bold, systemic action to solve the climate crisis,” said Erin Sprague, POW CEO. “POW is excited to be a part of this event and looking forward to seeing the lasting connections built among entrepreneurs, investors, and advocates at Progression 2024.”

Additionally, Progression has partnered with the Rocky Mountain Venture Capital Association (RMVCA) to help POW identify purpose-driven companies that are in the midst of fundraising. Furthermore, the RMVCA will help bring relevant investors to the Park City conference, giving the presenting companies an opportunity to make meaningful fundraising connections. RMVCA Executive Director, Nanette Schunk, explained, “as part of RMVCA’s mission to build the most robust venture capital network in the region with community, connections, and trust, we are proud to support the Progression 2024 event to further that mission in the climate tech sector. Protect Our Winters’ mission has particular importance in our region where the Rocky Mountains are at the heart of our economy and lifestyle. We’re thrilled to support POW in bringing top startups and investors to Park City for a top notch event.”

Progression will work with the RMVCA and POW to source and select six venture-stage companies that are in the midst of fundraising. Ultimately, POW will have the final decision on which companies they feel best align with their mission and deserve the opportunity to present. These startups will subsequently have the chance to pitch to the audience at the event and build meaningful fundraising relationships through the post-pitch networking reception. Overall, Progression 2024 aims to add a layer of purpose to venture capital investing and to provide POW and other relevant stakeholders with the opportunity to orient funding at this stage of the investment cycle toward companies that will help build a more sustainable future.
