Pumpkin Festival by Utah Foster Care at The Gateway

Salt Lake City—  Utah Foster Care (UFC) invites families to The Gateway for the Pumpkin Festival on Friday, Oct. 18, 2019 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (until supplies last). The whole family is invited to come decorate a jack-o-lanterns and learn how they can help Utah’s children in foster care.

Held at the Olympic Legacy Plaza* at The Gateway, the event is free and open to the public. Joining Utah Foster Care at The Gateway will be Salt Lake City Police, food trucks, a petting zoo full of the goats from GogaGuys LLC, characters from “Your Fairy Godmother” and representatives from my529. Pumpkins, paint and decorating materials are supplied by Utah Foster Care and *my529. While the kids decorate pumpkins, it’s the perfect time for mom and dad to talk to foster parents about the foster care experience and pick up information about saving for college with the Utah Educational Savings Plan (UESP).

“Halloween is yet another wonderful time of the year for families,” says Dan Webster, UFC’s Statewide Recruitment Director.  “While your family is having fun, it’s a time to remember that there are children in foster care who would love to have a foster family to be part of during Halloween and other fun times of the year.”

“Utah Foster Care’s Pumpkin Festival is a fun event for the whole family,” said Jacklyn Briggs, marketing director for The Gateway. “Kids and their parents can come paint pumpkins while learning about an important need in our community.

Utah Foster Care is a non-profit organization serving Utah’s children by finding, educating and nurturing families to meet the needs of children in foster care.

*In case of rain, the festival will take place in the Union Pacific Grand Hall
