Salt Lake County Democratic Party hires new Executive Director, elects Executive Committee

Salt Lake City—The Salt Lake County Democratic Party has elected a new Executive Committee and hired Executive Director Nick Glenn to usher in a new era of growth-minded leadership. Nick Glenn is a native Utahn who comes to the party with years of political experience and a degree in political science from BYU. Nick has worked on multiple political campaigns in Utah and as a political media analyst for a national communications firm. “I’m extremely excited to be joining the Salt Lake County Democratic Party as its new Executive Director. The party is in a very strong position heading into the 2023 elections and we are working hard to recruit local candidates and volunteers.” His most recent campaign role was Deputy Campaign Manager for Victoria Petro’s successful Salt Lake City Council campaign. When Victoria heard Nick was hired as Executive Director for the Salt Lake County Democratic Party she had this to say: “Nick’s skills in executing on a mission are without parallel and matched only by his passion for forwarding democratic principles. We are so fortunate he will be working on behalf of Salt Lake County Democrats.”

The Party has also elected a new Executive Committee to serve through April 2025. The Party will be chaired by Jade Velazquez, a long-time Salt Lake County resident and former member of the 2022 Executive Committee. With an MBA from Westminster University, Jade leads the team with an extensive background in project management and communications and has served on several non-profit boards including the Fairpark Community Council, Salt Lake Community Network, and Gun Violence Prevention Center of Utah. “As the newly elected Chair of the Salt Lake County Democratic Party, I am inspired by the momentum and electric energy within our Party. Together, we stand as a force of progress, fueled by the dedication of over a hundred thousand Democrats in Salt Lake County and the unbreakable spirit of our community. Our diverse county-wide team is strong and we are guided by our shared values of truth, justice and opportunity. Together we will forge a path towards a brighter future, united and unstoppable.” 

Jade is joined on the Executive Committee by Amber Hendrix as 1st Vice Chair, John Martinez as 2nd Vice Chair, Denece Mikolash as Secretary, Palmer Pattison as Treasurer, Lori Taylor as Chair of House District Chairs, Rick Jones as At-Large Member,  Rep. Bennion and Sen. Blouin as state legislative caucus representatives, Brad Townley as Salt Lake County Caucus representative, and Jiro Johnson as Chief Legal Counsel.
