Parade of Homes will begin on July 31st

Salt Lake City— The Salt Lake Home Builders Association today announced it will open the Salt Lake Parade of Homes July 31 to Aug. 15, 2020.

As essential businesses, home builders have implemented measures to keep processes safe for all of Utah’s homebuilders since March.

“With an abundance of caution, we are applying extra measures to ensure all CDC and health department guidelines are strictly met so the public can enjoy this 74-year-old tradition,” said Adam Breen, president of Salt Lake Home Builders Association, which organizes the annual event.

The Salt Lake Parade of Homes will run from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. from July 31 to Aug. 15 and will be closed Sundays and Mondays. Homes will be showcased in Salt Lake City, Holladay, Sandy, Draper, South Jordan, Riverton and Herriman.

“We are applying safety measures beyond CDC guidelines at each home on the 2020 parade so everyone will be safe and protected,” said Breen.

With up to 18 homes to be showcased this year, staff members will monitor the tours so social distancing will be in place, not allow touching of furniture and surfaces, and direct orderly traffic flow through the homes to eliminate congregating.

“Our top priority is to ensure everyone is safe while touring the parade of homes,” he said. “That’s another reason we are sanitizing and cleaning every home before it opens to the public.

“We are also encouraged by Utah Governor Gary Herbert’s prediction that Utah is likely to be in the low risk category by July 31.”

Established in 1946, the Salt Lake Parade of Homes is the longest running such event in the country.
