Utah Business – December 2016

The December 2016 issue of Utah Business magazine features the Best Companies to Work For as well as the “2017 Economic Forecast,” delving into the thoughts of Utah executives on just what the next year will bring.

Best Companies to Work For:

The ingredients of a top workplace: generous benefits, genuine opportunities for growth, effective management and a supportive, engaging culture.

How do we determine the Best Companies to Work For? Any company with a Utah presence is encouraged to participate in the Best Companies to Work For program. The process involves two surveys: one for a company’s HR/corporate department to complete and the other for the company’s employees to complete. The surveys ask questions about benefits and compensation, growth opportunities, company culture, management, etc. Once the surveys have been completed, the responses are scored based on a point system and the highest-ranking organizations are deemed the Best Companies to Work For.

2017 Economic Forecast:

While Utah typically outperforms the national economy, our state is not immune to national and global trends. And with some uncertainty as to how the outcome of the presidential election will impact the economy, we reached out to local executives (through a highly unscientific poll) to get a sense of how they feel about the upcoming year.
