Utah’s Own Beehive Cheese Wins Awards Across the Globe
Uintah―Beehive Cheese Company in Uintah, UT has been named among the winners at the World Cheese Awards competition this year in Bergen, Norway. Records were broken across the board this year, as more nations than ever before entered cheeses into the world’s biggest cheese-only event. Representing 41 different countries, entries made their way by boat, truck, train, and plane via 12 consolidation points around the world, from places including Brazil, Kenya, New Zealand, Russia, South Africa and the United States. 235 judges from 30 countries then tasted, nosed and graded cheeses from six continents, giving Bronze, Silver, Gold and Super Gold awards to worthy entries. Beehive Cheese performed well this year taking home 8 medals. Promontory, a smooth and creamy Irish-style cheese, won a medal. Barely Buzzed, with espresso and lavender, took home three medals. Teahive—with an Earl Gray tea rind, Seahive—with sea salt and honey, and Rosemary Promontory were also recognized with a medal each.
On the other side of the Atlantic, at the British Empire Cheese competition in Toronto, Canada on November 1st, Teahive took second place in the Flavored Cheddars category. This is the first time that Beehive Cheese has entered this competition and are delighted by the recognition.
