Certiport named RAY KELLY president and chief executive officer. Before joining Certiport, Kelly was senior vice president of client services and sales at Prometric, which serves 7 million candidates per year on behalf of 450 clients in more than 160 countries as the largest global provider of high-stakes assessment and testing. He succeeds DAVID SAEDI.
Stoel Rives LLP, a full service U.S. business law firm, named ALAN MERKLE chair of the firm. Merkle began his legal career in the Stoel Rives’ Portland office in 1983. He currently focuses his practice in energy infrastructure and construction and design matters. He will succeed RON LONE.
The Utah Technology Council (UTC) named three new trustees: AMY REES ANDERSON, JEREMY HANKS and TIMOTHY HUNT. Anderson serves as the CEO of MediConnect Global, Inc. MediConnect currently has more than 5 million patient medical records in its online repository. Jeremy Hanks is an entrepreneur and leader with a successful track record of starting technology companies. He’s currently working on his fourth startup, 9aisle, to develop virtual inventory software for retailers and suppliers. Hunt is currently starting a new venture called Go Natural CNG.
COL. PATRICK C. HIGBY was named the 75th Air Base Wing’s commander. Colonel Higby comes to the 75th ABW from the Robins AFB, Georgia, where he was the 78th Mission Support Group commander. He will replace COL. LINDA R. MEDLER.
Jones Waldo Holbrook & McDonough PC elected three attorneys as shareholders: TROY J. ARAMBURU, BRETT EKINS and JACOB REDD. Ekins, who practices in the St. George office of Jones Waldo, represents clients in intellectual property matters and commercial litigation throughout Utah, Nevada and California in state and federal courts. Redd, a member of the firm’s corporate and real estate practice departments, works primarily in the areas of business organization and structuring, securities and mergers and acquisition. Nelson currently serves as a bar commissioner for the Utah State Bar for the Third Division. She is also the co-chair of the Utah State Bar Governmental Relations committee and the legislative liaison for the Family Law Section.
JERRY WARREN, director of Sundance Resort’s Mountain Operations, was presented the National Lifetime Achievement Award at the PSIA National Academy at Snowbird Resort. The Lifetime Achievement Award has only been given to six people in its 50-year history.
R&O Construction’s SLADE OPHEIKENS and TIM GLADWELL became LEED accredited professionals. A total of 34 R&O employees are on track to complete the intense LEED training program. By doing so, R&O can assist owners in realizing tax credits and energy savings on their projects.
University of Utah geneticist MARIO CAPECCHI, anthropologist KRISTEN HAWKES and chemist CYNTHIA BURROWS have been elected to the prestigious American Academy of Arts & Sciences. The Utah scientists were among 210 new fellows and 19 foreign honorary members elected to the academy, which calls itself “one of the nation’s most prestigious honorary societies and a center for independent policy research.”
IHI Environmental named RANDY MCCLURE manager of Industrial Hygiene/Safety and Asbestos Services. McClure is a Board Certified Safety Professional (CSP) with 30 years of occupational safety and health experience.
Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage announced that top local realtor ROBERT BOLAR earned the prestigious Council of Residential Specialists (CRS) designation. Less than 4 percent of all realtors hold the CRS designation. Bolar exceeded the council’s requirements by having more than 100 transactions and became the only realtor in the state of Utah to recently earn the designation.
Telesphere named JOHN CHRISTOFFERSON indirect channel manager for the Salt Lake City market. Christoffersen joins Telesphere with more than 12 years experience in telecommunications. He has held leadership positions in several companies, including Callware Technologies and most recently, Direct Solutions, where he served as business development manager.
Red Ledges, a private golf and four-season recreational community located in the Heber Valley, hired John Johnson as Golf Club General Manager. Johnson was appointed through Troon Golf, the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing, to manage the Red Ledges Golf Club.
ALAN HALL joined MediConnect’s board of directors. Hall is the founder and chairman of MarketStar Corporation, a global outsourced marketing and sales company focused on assisting high-technology companies increase sales in small to medium business sectors.
Total Building Commissioning, Inc. (TBC) named TODD RINDLISBAKER vice president. Rindlisbaker has been in the HVAC/plumbing and commissioning business for 16 years. He joined TBC in 2004 and has extensive experience in project management, HVAC design and energy studies. He specializes in hydronic heating and cooling systems, controls optimization for comfort and energy efficiency and in commissioning.
Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems (UAMPS) hired CATHRYN COLLIS to run the organization’s recently launched Smart Energy Efficiency Program. Collis brings more than 35 years of experience in public policy, natural resource planning and project management to the organization and its members. In addition to various consulting projects, Collis worked for SWCA Environmental Consultants, where she was managing principal for the Utah, Idaho and Nevada offices.
Bank of Utah named RUSSELL MILLER and STEVE EMPEY vice presidents of credit administration. Miller brings more than 18 years experience as a senior auditor, financial analyst and credit manager. Empey offers a long career and diverse background in business and banking. He most recently served as executive vice president, chief credit officer at Prime Alliance Bank.
SARA BOULEY, a shareholder in the law firm Fabian & Clendenin, has been appointed real property Bar Examiner for the Utah State Bar. Bouley maintains a diverse practice that includes complex business and corporate law, real estate litigation and transactional work, contract disputes and trust and estate litigation.
